How to create a prop in 9 simple stages.

Ironically, this bio-hazard support unit was mothballed      when shooting was suspended due to the appearance of     the very real bio-hazard,  ‘Covid 19’.

Covid stops the shooting of 'Sssss', a SciFi short.  With time and the weather on my side, the construction of my first prop - life support unit - starts to take shape.

 

Step 1:

A humble sack trolley waits.

A  couple of timber frames already 

assembled  in the background.

Left:  Step 4 - the first fitting goes surprisingly well.

 

Out of view: a cold bottle of San Miguel helps me   make sense of it all.    Sun shining.    All is good. 

 

Steps 5 - 7:   Cladding (Upvc fascia boards),  fitted with  ducting from a cooker-hood, a digital photo frame, washing machine hoses, a double T.V. aerial socket  fitted with flexi tap hoses. Pipe insulation to handles, an air vent and a plastic lid to the front. 

Steps 8 - 9:  Doors fitted, 'Bio-hazard' stickers added and a downloaded graphic of a fuel gauge stuck inside a plastic lid.  All done!

ABOVE: an annotated picture of the machine. explaining features that appear in the screenplay. Then a sneaky peep around the back - access for a hidden assistant, operating the digital photo screen,  making the lights flash, test-tubes eject after analysis etc.     Simples!
